A PETERBOROUGH woman has admitted loitering for prostitution in a city street. Yasmin Khan (35), of Kesteven Walk, appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

She pleaded guilty to loitering for prostitution in Burghley Road on January 21 and also admitted a separate charge of stealing items of an unknown value from Wilkinson’s store in Peterborough city centre on the same day.

Giles Beaumont, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was seen on CCTV leaving the store without paying for items which are believed to be coffee and groceries. The defendant was later seen loitering in Burghley Road for the purposes of prostitution. She was later arrested and interviewed by police officers.”

Mr Beaumont also told the court that Khan had previous convictions for loitering for prostitution, theft and failing to surrender while on bail.

Rebecca Keogh, defending, said: “She has an unenviable record.”

Khan was refused bail by magistrates and was remanded in custody until February 1 when she is due to return to the court for her sentence.
