POLICE officers who raided an Ipswich house they suspected of being used as a brothel found a number of scantily dressed women at the premises, it has been alleged. A jury at Ipswich Crown Court heard that when officers entered the property in Alexandra Road they found women dressed in “skimpy clothes” including black underwear, black negligees and stockings.

Police also found a large quantity of condoms on the premises as well as sex toys, Joanne Eley, prosecuting, said. “These items show that at that address sex work was being undertaken,” she said.

Before the court are Alexsander Sochacki, 38, of The Admirals, Harwich, Aleksandra Bryll, 27, and Eliza Bryll, 22, both of Berkley Close, Colchester, and Magdelena Chamera, 24, of Nelson Road, Harwich. All four defendants have denied managing or assisting in the management of a brothel between March and October, 2008.

Miss Eley claimed that each of the defendants was involved to a “greater or lesser extent” in the management of a brothel at the house. She told the court that the Victorian house was situated in a residential area of Ipswich and that Aleksandra Bryll's name was on the tenancy agreement for the premises. “She was responsible for what was going on at the premises,” Miss Eley said.

She said police officers visited the premises on two occasions in March and July, 2008. On the second occasion officers made a number of arrests.

The court heard after her arrest Aleksandra Bryll admitted working at the house in Alexandra Road as a prostitute twice a week and admitted putting adverts in the adult services column of local newspapers. She said she didn't give anyone a cut of the money she earned and didn't have a manager.

Eliza Bryll told police she had come to the UK to work and wasn't on benefits, but declined to answer further questions.

The trial continues today.
