TWO Polish men are to face trial after denying running a brothel in Plymouth and trafficking two Polish women to work in it.
Piotr Krupa and Michael Barcicki were helped by an interpreter when they appeared in custody yesterday at Plymouth Crown Court. Both men pleaded not guilty to four joint charges: keeping, managing or assisting in managing a brothel at 19, Sydney Street, Stonehouse; trafficking a woman in the UK for sexual exploitation; trafficking another woman in the same way; controlling prostitution for gain.
All the alleged offences happened between May 17 and June 15 last year.
Prosecutor Andrew Maitland said both women were returning to Poland but would come back to Plymouth to give evidence.
The trial, expected to last three days, is listed to start on May 12.
Krupa, aged 25, of Carlisle Road, Whitleigh, and Barcicki, aged 25, of Sydney Street, Stonehouse, were again remanded in custody by Judge Francis Gilbert QC
