We have had a few questions asked about updating profiles. I thought I would write a few notes that people may find helpful
Overview
Your profile can be reached by clicking on 'Your Details' in the menu on the right of the page. So that the page size is kept down, and for clarity, profiles are made up of some basic information which is always on show, and a number of tabs. These tabs vary according to your membership type e.g. Service Provider or Seeking Services.
Editing
At the top left of your profile is a grey button marked Edit. If you hover on this a menu will appear:
- Update Your Profile - Allows you to edit your profile
- Update Your Image - Allows you to change the image shown on the main part of your profile. It does not affect your gallery
- Remove Image - Deletes the image shown on the main part of your profile, it does not delete gallery images.
Update your Image
This updates the image shown on the main part of your profile. This image is also used for your avatar in the forum, blogs etc. If you have not added an image, a default one will be used.
To change your image go to Edit -> Update Your Image. You will be presented with a screen with two parts.
The first will allow you to upload an image. Click on the browse button to select an image from your computer. Once selected, press open. The file name and location will appear in the box beside the browse button. Click on the 'Upload' button. The image will be uploaded and you will be returned to your profile. Images will be automatically resized. There is a 1 Meg limit to the filesize being uploaded.
The second part of this page allows you to select an image from an image gallery. Check the box next to the thumbnail of the image you want to use and then press 'Confirm Choice' to use that image.
Update Your Profile
You can access all the user editable fields in your profile from here
Go to Edit -> Update Your Profile. You will be presented with a screen with tabs corresponding to the tabs on your profile. I will deal with these individually:
Once you have made your changes, press 'Update' to submit the changes. Pressing cancel will take you back to your profile without any changes being made.
General Tab
The options on here appear on your profile to the left of your image. The field should be self-explanatory.
The 'Short Intro' field is simple text only, you cannot add any style to the text. It is limited to 200 characters. If you exceed that limit you will get an error message when you try to update your profile.
AvatarTab
This tab controls the image that appears on the main part of your profile and as your avatar on the forum, blogs etc.
About MeTab
You can write a bit about yourself here. The editor allows formatting your text, so you can introduce styles into the text (Bold, coloured text, alignment etc). I will add a further article on all the functions in the editor.
The editor works in a similar way to MS Word. If you copy and paste into it, then styles are copied over with the text.
To separate paragraphs only press the return/enter button once. The editor has a robust feature to prevent people posting malicious code. Pressing the return/enter twice in certain browsers introduces some code that triggers this feature. If the feature is triggered, then your profile will not update,
Details Tab
Your details are in this tab. Some cannot be changed, and will be greyed out. Others are not publically visible, and have a 
next to them. Others are visible on your profile and are marked 
.
Services Tab
This only appears on Service Providers' profiles.
Simply check the appropriate boxes of services you do, or do not, offer.
Rates Tab
Again, only appears on Service Providers' profiles.
Gallery Tab
There are no user options in this tab. To add images to your gallery click on the gallery tab whilst not in edit mode. You will see an option 'Submit new Gallery Item'. Click on this to add an image.
Tours and Offers Tab
This contains a list of items you have added to the Events List. Click on 'Add New' to add a tour or offer
Reviews Tab
This tab contains reviews left for you on TOP. It is not editable.
