Lap dancing club shut down

Postby admin » 16 Jun 2017, 22:19

Controversial lap-dancing club ST1 has closed after a police investigation into reports of drug-dealing, violence and prostitution at the trouble-plagued city centre venue. Police ordered a review of the venue's licence after compiling a dossier of evidence against the Trinity Street bar.

Issues included:

*Alleged credit card fraud linked to customers having their drinks spiked. A number of customers reported finding up to £2,000 missing from their bank accounts after visiting ST1;
*Evidence of drug-dealing and high levels of cocaine detected in the staff room and toilets;
*Sixteen violent incidents at the gentlemen's club in less than three years;
*Claims of dancers offering sex acts to customers paying a premium fee;
*CCTV footage showing dancers simulating or performing sex acts on customers.

Members of Stoke-on-Trent City Council's licensing sub-committee revoked the venue's premises licence at a secret meeting in March.

ST1 continued to operate after an appeal was lodged for July. But that appeal has been withdrawn and ST1 'has closed with immediate effect'. The club's sexual entertainment venue licence was cancelled at a behind-closed-doors council meeting this week.

Bosses running The Quality Hotel - which is opposite ST1 - are delighted the club has finally closed. They have made repeated complaints about the venue - as their guests struggled to get a good night's sleep.
