Guilty of assaulting a sex worker in Gloucester

Postby admin » 01 Jun 2017, 22:12

A man has been found guilty of assaulting a sex worker in Gloucester. Georgian Huzdup, 29, was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court last Thursday after he kicked and punched the female victim. The woman was helped by two men who came to her aid during the attack in the early hours of 13 August last year.

Huzdup, of Barton Street, Gloucester, was issued with a two-year restraining order after serving five months in prison on remand. Following a trial, he was found guilty of assault but not guilty of a count of rape.

Gloucestershire police moved to reassure the public that it takes all allegations very seriously and reassure victims that their voices will be heard.

DC Simone Bowley, of the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit, wanted to thank the victim for her courage in coming forward and the witnesses who intercepted the assault. She said: "A prosecution was possible due to the courage of Huzdup's victim and also due to members of the public who had called police and gave witness statements.

"I would like to take this opportunity to emphasise Gloucestershire Constabulary's commitment to working closely with our partners in supporting women and vulnerable members of the community who are the victims of violence. We will strive to do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.
