Postby admin » 02 Mar 2017, 22:49

Police have closed down what is believed to be a brothel in Gloucester today.

Officers swooped on an address in Abbeydale to serve a closure notice under the sexual offences act.

A notice was placed on the entrance to the building at about 2.40pm today.

The closure notice said: "It is appropriate to issue this notice with effect from Thursday, March 2, because the authorising officer has reasonable grounds for believing that this particular premises has been used for activities relating to the below specified prostitution or pornography offences as detailed in the Sexual Offences Act 2003, control prostitution for gain.

"The notice is necessary to prevent the premises being used for activities related to these specific offences and that the making of a closure order is necessary to prevent the premises being used for activities related to one or more specified prostitution or pornography offences."

Police have been granted permission to shut down a house in the suburbs of Gloucester as the man living there is investigated for a string of alleged serious sexual offences.

A civil court heard today how the man is suspected to have taken control of vulnerable women with drugs and allegedly forced them to have sex with men he brings back to the house.

Myles Doyle was arrested when police raided his home in Oxmoor, Abbeydale on Thursday evening and police were permitted to temporarily close his home. Officers were granted an extension of that closure for three months at Gloucestershire County Court today.

The court heard Mr Doyle, 63, was arrested on suspicion of offences including rape, modern slavery, controlling women for prostitution, coercive control and assault causing actual bodily harm before being bailed until May 3.

While the criminal investigation continues into Mr Doyle, the constabulary sought the civil notice to protect any potential future victims.
