A female pimp who befriended a pool of vulnerable young girls in Sheffield and prostituted them out to men in exchange for cash, drugs and alcohol has been jailed for 12 years. Mum-of-one, Amanda Spencer, aged 23, deliberately targeted her victims - many of whom were in care or homeless - and made friends with them before plying them with drugs and alcohol and selling them for sex.

Spencer, of Rawmarsh Hill, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, was found guilty of 16 child sexual exploitation offences after a nine week trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

Jailing her, Judge Michael Murphy QC said: “I have absolutely no sympathy for your heartless exploitation of young, vulnerable girls. They didn’t have much of a childhood but what they had, you spoiled. They looked up to you, they regarded you as their friend and protector.
“Unfortunately what they found in you was not a protector but an exploiter.”

Ian Foster, aged 68, of Peckham Road, High Green, Sheffield, was found guilty of indecently assaulting three of the victims at his home in Sheffield. He was also sentenced for child sex offences from a previous trial which included six counts of sexual activity with a child, five of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one of engaging in sexual activity with a child dating back to 2003. He was jailed for a total of 14 years - four years for the latest offences and 10 years for the offences from his first trial.

A WOMAN pressured into sex by teenage pimp when she was just 14 says she is still haunted by the ordeal five years later after her tormentor was jailed for a string of child prostitution offences.

In victim impact statements, read out in court, some of the girls said their lives had been ruined by Spencer’s actions, with many turning to self-harm, drink and drugs as a way of coping.

One victim, who was pressured into having sex with men when she was just 14, said she was befriended by Spencer when she was a vulnerable young girl.

The woman, now 19, said: “We started talking and she said the right things as someone who wanted a friend. She was dragging and pulling me into what she wanted. We would go out, get drunk and take drugs, the things I thought I wanted to do.”

The woman said Spencer would give her alcohol and tell her to have sex with men. In return, Spencer would receive payments in the form of cash, drugs and alcohol.

Spencer would become angry and threaten her if she refused to do what she was told. She had sex with many different men, often much older than her.

She said: “She stopped being a friendly person and when these people came along she used to tell me everything would be alright, she’d get me a bit of drink and it would happen. I knew what she was asking me to do, but where would I go? Either into care, back to a family who didn’t want me, or be on my own again. I didn’t have an option, I could have walked away but I didn’t want to be alone.”

She managed to escape Spencer in 2009 but said that five years later she is still struggling to come to terms with what happened. She said: “Mentally, it’s the nightmares that get to me; you’re not sleeping so you’re thinking about it all the time. I spent a long time pretending it never happened, it’s easier that way – it can’t hurt you if it’s not real.”

A 22-year-old man has been convicted and jailed for witness intimidation, following a court hearing in Sheffield last week. Christopher Whiteley, from Sheffield, was on trial at Sheffield Crown Court charged with witness intimidation. He was found guilty on Friday 26 June and sentenced to 21 months in prison.

The charge was brought in connection with an investigation into allegations of child sexual exploitation.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Martin Tate said: “South Yorkshire Police is working hard to investigate a number of historic child sexual exploitation offences. These investigations are extremely complex and a number of individuals have been arrested and are on police and court bail.

“Victims have put considerable trust in the police to come forward and tell us what happened. Any attempt to interfere with the witnesses of any investigation, the evidence or the judicial process will be dealt with immediately and in the most robust way the law allows. Witness intimidation can take many forms, including contact on social media, and is completely unacceptable.”

A friend of an alleged Sheffield child abuse gang was arrested in court as the defendants pleaded not guilty to dozens of charges against them. The man was involved in a brief scuffle with police officers and security guards after standing up and shouting, ‘You charged my friends’ from the public gallery above the courtroom.

He was told he was under arrest as he was moved out of the public gallery. South Yorkshire Police subsequently confirmed a man in his 20s had been arrested for public order offences.

Five men and one woman are accused of alleged child sexual exploitation offences against eight Sheffield girls. They are now due to stand trial for up to six weeks from January 30 next year. The offences are said to have occurred between 2005 and 2012.

Amanda Spencer and Chistopher Whiteley played 'key roles' in a Sheffield child prostitution ring through which they forced girls as young as 12 to engage in sexual activity for their financial and personal gain, a court heard.

During the opening of the trial today, through which six defendants are being tried for 42 offences against nine victims, Sheffield Crown Court was told how both Christopher, 23, and Amanda, 25, would befriend young girls, plying them with alcohol, drugs, make-up and attention before forcing them to carry out sex acts they did not consent to.

The defendants deny all charges, which are alleged to have taken place between 2005 and 2012 in Sheffield.

Amanda, previously of Canklow Road, Canklow Rotherham preyed upon troubled girls hanging around in the Castle Market area of Sheffield between 2008 and 2012 when she was aged between 17 and 21, it is alleged.

Christopher, of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe is alleged to have carried out acts of rape and sexual assault against similarly vulnerable girls at Castle Market between 2007 and 2010 when he was between the ages of 13 and 16-years-old.

He is also alleged to have also been on the other side of the child prostitution ring, forcing young girls into sexual activity with strangers, along with his brothers Shane Whiteley, 29, and Matthew Whiteley, 24, both of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe and their friend Andre Francis Edge, 25 of Wheatley Road, Parson Cross.

A mother told a court how her teenage daughter with learning difficulties was 'kidnapped' and ordered to sell her body on a Sheffield street corner. The woman said her child was 17 when Shane Whiteley drove her to Sheffield city centre in November 2005 and told her to stand on a pavement close to West Street plying for trade.

Sheffield Crown Court heard today how the matter was reported at the time but the girl asked police not to take action because she was 'scared' of the consequences.

Mr Whiteley, aged 29, of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe, is one of six defendants accused of being part of a child prostitution ring in Sheffield.

The girl's mother said her daughter, who she claimed had learning difficulties and was 'trusting', had initially confided in her older sister about the alleged ordeal before opening up to her. "Her sister told me (daughter's name) had been kidnapped, put into this car and got forced to go on the street," she said.

The mother phoned police that night, when a log of that call which was read out in court records her saying: "He (Mr Whiteley) said he was going to take her to see her friend, who was his sister. He took her to West Street instead and tried to make her go on the game, saying he didn't have any money and she was going to try to make some for him."

A child sex gang leader profited from a 13-year-old Sheffield schoolgirl being raped and forced to have sex with a middle-aged stranger, it is alleged.

Sheffield Crown Court was told how Girl B, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was introduced to Amanda Spencer through her then boyfriend who was some five years older. The pair broke up shortly afterwards, and Girl B says it is after she parted ways with her former boyfriend that she became better acquainted with Spencer, formerly of Canklow Road, Canklow, Rotherham.

In police interview in 2014 Girl B, who was in Year 8 at school at the time of the offences in 2010, told officers how Spencer initially acted as her protector against Christopher Whiteley, 23 after he attempted to force her to carry out sex acts on him at Castle Market.

Girl B said that Spencer even bought her clothes, and that she along with Matthew Spencer, 25, of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe would give her alcohol and cannabis when she was 'wagging' school to go to Castle Market during the day. The court was told that Spencer's attitude towards Girl B soon changed and she would threaten to beat her up if she did not do as she asked and engage in sexual activity with Spencer's clients.

Girl B said: "She came across as a nice person but she turned out to be the most horrible."

One client Girl B alleges she was forced into sexual activity with was Christopher Whiteley of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe. Girl B told police she would be brought through to Whiteley on the stairwell by Spencer who would be waiting nearby while she was forced into sexual activity, and Whiteley would then pay Spencer. Girl B says she was never told how much Spencer charged Whiteley, but told police she believed it must have been either £10 or £20 due to seeing Whiteley hand Spencer a note at one point.

Two brothers on trial for a string of child prostitution charges were seen by police walking towards Sheffield's red light district with a young girl they are accused of pimping out, a court heard. Sheffield Crown Court was told how at around 12.45pm on February 25, 2009 Christopher Whiteley, 23 and Matthew Whiteley, 24 were spotted by police officer Lauren Parker walking along Rutland Road in Neepsend.

The two brothers, both of of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe were seen walking with Girl C, then aged 16. They, along with Shane Whiteley, also of of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe and their friend Andre Francis Edge, 25 of Wheatley Road, Parson Cross are accused of forcing into prostitution. All four defendants are also charged with conspiracy to rape Girl C.

As the girl and the two brothers walked up towards what Ms Parker described as being the city's red light district, Girl C - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was seen swigging from a can of lager.

Ms Parker, who was patrolling the area to gather intelligence on solicitation and prostitution in Sheffield, told the court that she knew what Matthew Whiteley looked like at the time due to photographs she had seen of him at the police station she was stationed at. She was also able to identify Girl C due to past dealings with her.

She told the court: "They were simply walking on the road towards Shiregreen, continuing on in the same direction [after we passed them]. I noted down that Girl C was seen with Matthew Whiteley and an unknown male. I wrote Girl C could be on the streets working."

Another police officer also saw the Girl C and the two Whiteley brothers, both of whom were later picked out in an identification parade by officers as the two males seen with Girl C on that evening.

A teenage girl forced into prostitution was hung out of the window of a Sheffield flat used as a makeshift brothel for failing to clean, a court heard. Youth Justice Officer Julie Greenhoff told Sheffield Crown Court that Girl C, who was in her care in 2009, told her Shane Whiteley, of Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe, hung her out of his flat in Victoria Court, West Street by her legs.

Ms Greenhoff said Girl C said Whiteley, aged 29, carried out the terrifying act as a punishment for not cleaning the flat and that she had also been ‘beaten up’ by Andres Frances-Edge, 25 of Wheatley Road, Parson Cross, for the same thing.

Girl C, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also alleges Whiteley locked her in a cupboard at the flat when she tried to leave.

The girl, who has learning difficulties and was described as being 'very vulnerable' when the Whiteley brothers and Edge are alleged to have forced her into prostitution in 2009, was being monitored by police and the youth offending service at the time due to concerns she may be the victim of sexual exploitation.

The court heard Girl C had told Ms Greenhoff and fellow youth justice worker Suzanne Sutcliffe she had been made to work as a prostitute at the flat by Whiteley, and his brothers Matthew, 24, and Christopher, 23.

Ms Sutcliffe said Girl C would become distressed at the mere mention of the Whiteley brothers. She said: “She would visibly shake. She would get upset and cry.”

Girl C would regularly visit the Youth Justice Centre in Division Street for appointments with her youth justice workers, as would Christopher Whiteley. Ms Sutcliffe told the court that on one occasion, Girl C became extremely worried on hearing Christopher Whiteley was in the centre at the same time, and opted to leave through the back entrance.

A man accused of pimping out a teenage girl on the streets of Hillfields says that all the claims against him are “lies”. Thomas Entwistle took to the stand at Warwick Crown Court where he denied forcing the 17-year-old to work as a prostitute because he was “strapped for cash”. The jury also heard that he was accused of lying to police and being a “drug runner” for his co-accused.

Entwistle, 26, formerly of Warwick, but now of Dog Lane, Napton, and Martin Cantle, 24, of Aldbourne Road, Radford, both deny two charges of causing or inciting child prostitution, controlling a child prostitute, arranging or facilitating child prostitution, and supplying the girl with cocaine.

ntwistle gave his side of the story on the last day at evidence and told the court that he met the alleged victim through a mutual friend and believed she was “about 18 or 19”. He told the jury that the teen told him she was “doing escorting” at that time.

The jury heard that Entwistle and the girl slept together “a couple of times” in April 2014.

His barrister, Nick Devine, asked: “When being interviewed by police you told them you didn’t have a relationship with her. What did you mean?”

“We weren’t an item,” Entwistle replied, adding he would never have described them as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Entwistle and Cantle got a flat together in Wyken in May 2014 and the teenage girl was introduced to Cantle at around the same time. “Was there any conversation during that first meeting about prostitution?” asked Mr Devine.

“No,” said Entwistle.
